FamCarePlus supports access to patient health updates for family members, caregivers, and next-of-kin (NOK). FamCarePlus enhances communication and coordination between (remote) families and healthcare staff at point-of-care.
FamCarePlus provides NOK a supplemental link to the bedside beyond calling into the nursing station. Apart from its direct impact on reducing psychological trauma, maintaining communication, and the flow of bedside health and wellness information, FamCarePlus may prove invaluable for creating informed families, while lower anxiety and depression and building trust and satisfaction with healthcare services. Our recent usability and user experience study of the FamCarePlus service provided extremely positive findings for all quantitative and qualitative data. FamCarePlus functionality includes:
On the FAMILY app side (used by families outside the clinical setting, often in remote locations): (1) Vitals/wellness updates, (2) Texting/Chat, (3) Video conferencing, and (4) Counseling (Social / Mental Health Services support).
On the CLINICIAN app side (used at the bedside by clinicians or other healthcare staff, inside or outside the patient’s room or care space): (1) Input of real-time vitals and wellness information sent to family members in qualitative measures, (2) Texting/Chat response to families, and (3) Video conferencing (FaceTime) per a family member’s request further communication.
